December 2nd - December 6th

Our class blog and twitter are two ways that we share information around what is happening in the classroom.

Twitter is used on a daily basis to share with parents the different tasks that students are engaging in throughout the week. The Blog is used for information purposes and also provides ideas for parents around what they can do to support their child's learning at home.

Information Items:

No spelling words for the next two weeks. We will pick up weekly spelling tests in the new year.

Practicing previous spelling words at home is a great way to review!

Concert Information:

Students will perform a rendition of the Nutcracker this upcoming: Thursday, December 12 at 6:30 p.m.

Please bring a food bank donation as admission to the concert.

Doors will open at 6:15 p.m. at which time students should go directly to their classroom.

Grade 2's students are asked to dress in vibrant red and white candy cane colours.

Historical Journaling:
For the past few weeks students have been researching self-selected events that happened in an Acadian Community in the past. Using videos, information books, journals and images from the past, the students have gained an understanding of the past events and have recorded their ideas onto Empathy Maps to show different perspectives and feelings of the people involved in these events. The students are translating these understandings into journal entries.

Students used an Empathy Map as a tool to create criteria about what needs to be included in their journal entry. Take a look at the criteria the grade 2's generated and that guided them through their journal writing journey.
